Today’s Twirl: Travel Apps

If you don’t have a smart phone you may want to file today’s episode away until later. Or maybe watch it and be inspired to buy one this week!

For the rest of you, you’ll want to download these right away. Whether your planning an end of summer vacation before the rush of fall or just looking for some new inspiration in your own town, today’s tech will be useful. Carley reviews three smart phone apps that can really help when you’re out on the town: Goby, Yelp and SitorSquat. I’ve been using Yelp for months now for dining inspiration in our own little corner of the world but it can be a great travel tool as well. And ladies, I know you’re going to want SitorSquat. Trying to find a bathroom that doesn’t gross you out is so important. I know I’m going to be using this all the time. I only wish I’d had it before our road trip last month! I think SitorSquat is a must have app for every mom who’s ever shouted “don’t touch that” to their child in a public restroom.

Carley’s Thoughts

The best travel apps for a vacation or road trip.

Whether you’re leavin’ on a jet plane or just road trippin’, there are so many incredibly useful (and delightfully free) apps out there to help make any adventure easier, and more fun than ever. They all use GPS technology which not only helps you find exactly what you’re interested in, but literally will lead you straight to it.

There’s nothing fishy about Goby, an app that’s like having a personal travel guide. One that knows everything that’s going on from high culture art exhibits, to off-the-beaten track hiking trails. Then, once you work up an appetite Yelp is our pick for the best app to help you find a great restaurants and see what others had to say about it. Perhaps a bit too much lemonade with lunch? Well then you’re going love the Sit or Squat app which will show you on a map where the closest commode is and whether or not you should walk the extra block to find a more suitable place to go when you really gotta go.

So check out this week’s Travel Tech Twirl (try saying that 3 times fast) for some of our favorite must-have apps.
